Gothic Shops

Ever been on your travels and been frustrated having to walk for hours to find a shop selling that pair of New Rocks or that silver crucifix? Hoped to find that last vital accessory on the way to a gig because you didn't have time before? Or simply wondered where to find those retailers of gothic merchandise in your area?

Underneath is a list of just such places, with addresses, directions and brief details. Web URLs are added for convenience, or where the outlet has no actual shop.

The list will be updated gradually as information is received. If you know of a place not listed, please contact me via the link on the last page of this site with as much information as possible, and I'll add the entry during the next update!

Black Rose
Stables Market, Camden

Black Rose Online

From Camden Town tube station, turn right along Camden High Street, and cross the road bridge over Camden Lock. Just before the railway bridge over the road, turn left into the market, keeping left, and follow the passage along. Bear right with it at the end and Black Rose is located shortly afterwards on the left. Alternatively, enter the market by the second entrance after the railway bridge in Chalk Farm Road, and use the map shown on their official site (link to the left).
One of the top retailers in London for gothic wear. Carries stocks of most well-known brands of clothing, including dresses, jeans and tops, as well as a selection of fetish wear, pvc etc.. Also sells full Alchemy Gothic range, and ancilliary products such as make-up. Not fantastically cheap, but then in London where is?
Metal Militia
Camden High Street
No online link available
From Camden Town station, exit and turn right along Camden High Street. Store is on your left, after you pass the first couple of markets and before you reach the road bridge over the Lock.
Almost exclusively band wear and merchandise. T shirts, hoodies, caps etc...
Darkside
245, High Street, Camden

Darkside Camden online

Follow directions into Camden High Street, as above.
One of the original Camden retailers, offering a full range of clothing and shoes to suit most 'goth' tastes, including leading brands like Omen and Raven. Like most shops in the area, cheap it isn't!

Resurrection Records

Camden High Street

No online link available

Directions as for the above two stores. Resurrection Records is on the right hand side of the road as you walk along towards the Lock bridge. Small entrance can take some finding, the store itself is downstairs.

Not a goth fashion shop I know, but included here for completeness for anyone visiting Camden. This is, after all, a website dedicated to WT and their music! Small shop always offering a healthy selection of CDs by your favourite bands, including WT of course. Fairly methodically organised (unlike Record Tape and Video Exchange!) making it quite easy to find what you are looking for. Competitive prices. It was from here that I first bought my copy of 'Enter'!

Camden Markets (various)

The markets themselves are all located along Camden High Street or beyond into Chalk Farm Road. Leaving Camden Town tube station and turning right along the High Street, you have Buck Street Market on the right, then the Lock Market on the left (after crossing the lock itself) with the Canal Market opposite that. Finally, the largest of the quartet is the Stables Market further on again on the left.

I have included the retailers above as the principal ones in the area. However there are many many more small shops and stalls within the various markets - far too many to list individually here. It is certainly worth shopping around and haggling a little before you buy (I once grabbed a black leather coat for just 20 pounds in the Stables Market, identical to one I had just seen further up the road for 159!). Also worth mentioning are a couple of shops (one each side of the road) in the vicinity of the Lock bridge, which specialise in shoes/boots - New Rocks in particular.

The Purple Shop

5, Fonnereau Road, Ipswich

Purple Shop online

Take any bus to Tower Ramparts bus station. With the station behind you, cross the main road in front of you (with the swimming baths facing you) then turn right along that pavement. The Purple Shop is a couple of minutes walk further along on your left, on a corner.

Only a small shop, yet full of goodies including bracelets and bangles, candles, cards, throws, and clothing. Also offers piercing, selling various jewellery to suit.

France

Gothic shop
Perrache station, Lyon
No online link available
As you exit Lyon Perrache station, continue straight ahead along the covered walkway and into the small retail area. The shop is on the right hand side, just before the escalators.
Only a small shop, but sells a fairly varied range including some band t shirts and the excellent Eastgate resource range of jewellery (better known under brand names like 'Forbidden'). Very reasonable prices too!
Gothic/fantasy shop
Marseillan Plage, main shopping street
No online link available
Coming from Sete along the main road towards Beziers, exit left at the roundabout immediately before the main turn off to Cap D'Agde (adjacent to Marseillan Plage station). Straight ahead past the campsites and left again at the next roundabout where the shops start. The retailer is in the second parade of shops on the right hand side, about five minutes' walk along this stretch of road.
Not strictly a gothic shop, but amongst their other items they sell 'Forbidden' jewellery, metallers' wallets (some with chains) and various charms. Be warned though, prices are very expensive!

Alternatively, take tram no. 5, 9 or 26 and ask driver for Lipanska. NOTE: Closed Saturday afternoons and Sundays!
